| Farther and Further. How many of you know the difference? Until I heard an ad on the radio a couple of years ago, I didn’t. Yes, I remember this from an ad. Amazing what hearing something over and over again can do. | C! Various |
| As for how to tell the two apart? | |
| Farther deals with distance. | *Show definition* |
| Further is a synonym for more. | *show definition* |
| Yeah, that’s it. | |
| And how to remember the difference? | |
| Farther the word ‘far’ in it. Like near and far. Close to you or far away. Distance. | *show something close and something far* |
| Further doesn’t have ‘far’ in it, so eliminate the distance, and you’re just left with more. | A bottle filling up, or the temperature dropped further. |
| Or if you really wanted to have fun: The temperature dropped further the farther north we went. I really hope that doesn’t confuse anyone. | The temperature dropped further the farther north we went. *sheepish or sweat drop |
